Estimates only, not a loan offer. Payment = standard amortization; your actual rate depends on credit, time in business and the equipment.

Contractors do not shop for “equipment” — they shop for a skid steer before spring, an excavator for the next contract, a dozer that has to earn from its first week. This calculator is built that way: per-machine presets and examples, construction defaults (the dedicated ranking tools open at $120,000 price, 20% down, 8.5% APR, 60 months), and auction/dealer purchase framing. Earthmoving-only fleets can also use the heavy equipment calculator; non-construction machinery belongs on the general calculator.

Estimates only, not a loan offer.

Per-machine examples (20% down, 9% APR, 60 months)

MachinePriceFinancedMonthly payment
Skid steer loader$45,000$36,000$747
Compact excavator$65,000$52,000$1,079
Track excavator$185,000$148,000$3,072
Bulldozer$275,000$220,000$4,567
(Quipli publishes the same style of per-machine table for this SERP — its figures differ slightly because its down payment/rate assumptions differ; these are computed on the stated terms so you can reproduce them in the tool.)

Frequently asked questions

How much is the monthly payment on a skid steer / excavator / bulldozer? See the table: on 20% down, 9% APR, 60 months — skid steer $747, compact excavator $1,079, bulldozer $4,567. Your figures move with your rate and term; the tool recomputes all three outputs (payment, interest, schedule) together (Quipli’s worked-example format).

What determines my equipment loan payment? Amount financed, APR, term, payment frequency, and any residual/balloon structure (smarter.loans’ FAQ lists exactly these five). Of the five, term and APR move the total cost most; the amount financed moves the payment most.

How long can you finance heavy construction equipment? Terms run 2–7 years typically, and up to 10 years for heavy equipment (Quipli). Match the term to the machine’s remaining working life — especially on used purchases.

What interest rates do construction equipment loans carry? Quipli publishes a wide 2%–20% band driven by credit profile — the narrow, tier-based view (bank vs online vs captive, by credit score) is on the equipment loan rates page.

How is the monthly payment calculated? Standard amortization (thecreditpeople walks through it stepwise on their calculator page): payment = P · r(1+r)ⁿ ÷ ((1+r)ⁿ − 1) over the financed amount — the amortization schedule in the tool shows the split month by month.
